The Book describes elder abuse based on the lived experience of the elderly in Bishoftu Town-Ethiopia.Accordingly, meaning attached to aging is affected by the environment in which aging takes place. Emotional abuse was identified as the most agonizing type of elder abuse. The book provide a detailed analysis on how family members perpetrate abuse on the elderly where the abuse takes place in most cases. It spells out the gender dimension of elder abuse and how older persons perceive death and spirituality.In general, the book spotted that elder abuse is a multifaceted issue which should be addressed by considering the biological, psychological, economic, spiritual and sociocultural issues that underlie the issue of elder abuse. The book suggests that intervention programs to help the elderly should never be tailored in a similar fashion since the experience of each elderly is unique. It is highly imperative for social workers, sociologists, gerontologists, lawyers, psychologists, policy makers and advocates who are interested in academics, research and practice regarding the elderly persons.
