Magnetic resonance imaging is a rapidly evolving and powerful technique, capable to noninvasively assess morphological evaluation and functional characterization of tissues. It has been successfully applied to the study of tumours, to diagnose, differentiate and guide therapy. Goal of this book is to describe imaging analysis and elaboration techniques to assess quantitative evaluations in advanced MR applications. The introduction of a quantitative tool to categorize lesions, masses or healthy tissues on the basis of MR behaviour will be of great advantage for clinicians during the diagnosis process and follow-up evaluation. The three main topics this book deals with are spectroscopy, diffusion and dynamic contrast enhancement acquisitions. When combined with other techniques they may increase MR diagnostic specificity and thus have a significant impact on patients treatment. At last a CAD system for tumour detection and characterization by assessing a malignancy probability value is also presented.
