The book ‘Agrometeorology of rainfed castor beans (Ricinus communis L.)’ describes agroclimatic characterisation, crop weather relationships, simple semi-mechanistic crop simulation models for yield prediction, water balance studies, drought analysis, utility of spectral radiometry and infrared thermometry in rainfed Agriculture. The information generated will help in screening and evaluating castor genotypes, developing simulation model for castor, identifying optimum weather conditions for higher yield and congenial weather conditions for disease/pests in castor. This study also will help in issuing proper advisories to farmers regarding choice of adopting optimum sowing dates, suitable crop genotypes and timings of other management practices. Much of the information generated and results presented are pioneering studies in this crop of industrial interest. This study will extensively add to the existing knowledge on Agrometeorology of castor beans. It will serve as a better reference work for the researchers and students working on castor crop and as a practical tool for growers of the crop, world over.
