This book explained the development of an integrated intelligent safety system for vehicle applications involves with smart seat system (SSS) for occupant detection, vehicle crash worthiness analysis system (CWAS) for airbag deployment decision and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The book consists of two main parts, namely integrated system model (ISM) and prototype implementation. In ISM, several algorithmic modules such as the occupant detection module; crash detection and its severity analysis module; decision fusion module were discussed. The theoretical framework followed by the embedded interconnection between hardware objects of SSS, CWAS and TPMS were implemented in the prototype part. An intelligent decision fusion algorithm is implemented fusing several decisions from the SSS, CWAS for airbag deployment. Results obtained from ISM verify the model of the actual system; justify the design and implementation of the prototype. The experimental results explained the real-time implementation, data monitoring, decisions, safety warning and airbag deployment decision. The developed system in this book is robust, intelligent and effective for vehicle safety application.
