The anatase to rutile transformation in doped titania was entirely different from that in undoped one. The loaded transition metal oxides have pronounced effect on the polymorphism in titania. The transformation temperature was lowered much in presence of dopants. The reaction atmosphere has major influence on the phase transformation in titania. The onset and completion of rutilation also depend on the system selected. Argon atmosphere is more accelerating than hydrogen and air. The activation energy for the transformation was lowered much in the case of doped Titanium dioxide. The extent of lowering of activation energy depends on the method of doped titania preparation, the quantity and nature of the transition metal oxide doped. The surface morphology of Titanium dioxide changes with doping of transition metal oxides and on rutilation. The photo catalytic activity decreases with rutilation. Among the dopants Ferric oxide and Chromic oxide work well with the oxidation of toluene.Partial oxidation was observed in Nickel oxide doped system. In Manganese dioxide and Copper oxide doped system, the conversion is very less.
