Bullying has become a rising concern in secondary schools producing an unsafe learning environment for students. This is despite the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology creating awareness on the negative repercussions of bullying on students’ performance, stand firm on bullying, and writing many reports and circulars about bullying. A lot of literature has been done on bullying in secondary school but little has been done on the effects of bullying on academic performance. This work has therefore looked at the effects of bullying on academic performance in secondary schools. The work investigated on the types of bullying in secondary schools, factors contributing to bullying in secondary schools, effects of bullying and remedies to bullying. Bullying has contributed to poor academic performance of students in secondary schools and in spite of many efforts to deal with it, bullying continues to thrive. This has led to a great deal of wastage of material resources, manpower, time, and even loss of life. The work is useful to all educational stakeholders as they can strategize on how to eliminate cases of bullying in secondary schools.
