This book is one of the first research works of Dr. Chhatra Mani Sharma carried out in 1995-1996 as a MSC Dissertation in Zoology from Tribhuvan University. It includes the physico-chemical parameters of river water, fish diversity, fishery resources, the fishing methods, fishing implements in use and socio-economic conditions of the fishermen depending on the Tinau River. The book also gives recommendations for the improvement of fish habitats because the use of destructive methods for fishing have created a threat to the fish habitats in certain streches of the river. Dr. Sharma has been working in the sector of freshwater ecology, mainly in the field of pollution of heavy metals on biota, sediment and water. Besides books, he has many publications in the peer-reviewed international journals. Currently, he is working as Young International Scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.
