This book aims to improve the fabrication process of reinforcement bars in Walia Steel Industry and thereby increase the productivity and efficiency of the industry. The main challenges and the causes for the industry’s lesser productivity were identified. High scrap, risky working environment, less tool (roll) life in relation to roll pass design were identified as the main causes for the less productivity of the industry. A literature review was also conducted to identify the main global and local challenges of the steel industry. In order to solve the identified problems new mould was designed for minimizing the scrap. Additionally a cost effective mechanism was designed in order to automate the entire material handling system. Finally in order to increase the productivity of the rolling mill three different options of roll passes were designed. In order to predict its thermo-mechanical effect a specialized metal forming finite element software (DEFORM 3D) was used. The result of each option is compared based on simulation results to choose the best one for implementation and relevant recommendation has been made.
