The luminescent materials find applications in many fields. They are used in X-ray screens, X-ray scintillators, PSL X-ray imaging, TLD solid state lasers, upconversion, lamp phosphors, RPL phosphors, Paints and inks, TV screens, CR tubes, LED etc. materials. Most of the borates are polyfunctional materials with nonlinear optical, piezo-electrical and acousto-electrical properties. In the present work describes the brief introduction to classification of luminescence, their phenomenological theories and applications in various fields and Classification & crystal chemistry of Borates. The book describes the details of preparation and PL characterization of several Borates doped such as UVB emitting, near UV emitting, RGB emitting. In addition, the preparation of some novel Borate materials by Solution Combustion technique have also been described. The present work deals with the synthesis and luminescent studies of different Borates doped with various luminescent ions. The work helps a lot to those who are engaged in the research for new and desired inorganic Borates for various applications.
