This current study is an approach towards the present civil service system in Bangladesh. As Bangladesh is a developing country the civil service is considered as the pioneer of the development. The civil service system in Bangladesh has a long history. This system has some traditional background from the colonial British period and the United Pakistan period. At the present time the civil service system is passing through Bangladesh system. In our current study we have tried to make an overview of our present civil service system. It includes the Public Personnel Management (PPM) and Human Resource Management (HRM) in Bangladesh civil service. After that we have attempted to make an overview of the career planning in Bangladesh civil service. Then how the recruitment, selection, promotion and training are done in the civil service of Bangladesh is discussed. Finally we have discussed the role of the executive body and the constitutional body of the civil service and some recommendations are being made.
