This is a story of Kimelil a great Nandi leader and a fearless warrior before the advent of the White man. It also shows the way of life amongst the Nandi- Clan of Kenya East Africa. The Nandi clan forms a major tribe of the Kalenjin that belongs to the Nilo-Saharan family. The Kalenjin and other Nilotes in the Great Lakes region have through interaction adopted many customs and practices from neighboring Southern Cushitic groups. The latter include the age set system of social organization, circumcision, and vocabulary terms. In terms of subsistence modes, the Kalenjin have also traditionally practiced livestock herding.
