Pioglitazone, a member of thiazolidinediones is a potent and highly selective agonist for PPAR-? proves to be an excellent insulin sensitizer which is used for the treatment of T2DM.The present study investigated the single dose Pharmacokinetics of pioglitazone tablet in bengali male volunteers.Significant alteration in the pharmacokinetics of pioglitazone on Bengali population compared to Chinese, Thai and German population support the hypothesis of metabolic variation among different ethnic groups may indicate the polymorphic variation in the pioglitazone responsive main metabolizing gene CYP3A4 and CYP2C19. To accomplish the clinical benefits, safe and effective drug therapy is difficult due to large inter-patient variability in response to many drugs. The knowledge of a drug’s pharmacokinetic profile within individual has allowed the clinician to optimization of the drug’s performance. Therefore, the pharmacokinetic studies are highly relevant for the circumstances under which the drugs are to be used.
