By using the plastic-hinge model for the global analysis of framed structures, we make an efficient choice for practical design. In fact, this approach leads to important time saving and simple modelling of complex framed structures. This book provides a rather complete procedure of the automatic plastic-hinge analysis: The one/two/three-linear behaviours of the material are considered. Both fixed and repeated loading are authorized. The P-delta effects are also taken into account. The beam-to-column joints could be rigid or semi-rigid. The compact or slender cross-sections are examined. The analysis is carried out using alternatively direct or step-by-step methods. Both analysis and optimization aspects are envisaged in such a way that re-analyse of optimal structure is possible for eventual verification. The book describes in detail from the fundamental theory to the automatic algorithms and several numerical examples are illustrated with detailed comparisons and discussions with other authors.
