This book looks at dairy business system in Uganda. It provides an overview of dairy farming in Uganda, starting from production to distribution/marketing and then consumption. It looks at the resource inputs required and their availability. It also looks at the policies implemented in the sector since the 1980's and their implications especially the privatisation and liberalisation of sector. Major players in the sector are also analysed. major constraints to the growth and development of sector are identified. The report looks at the price transmission mechanism from the producer to the consumer, point out the major beneficiaries at different stages of the chain. The report goes ahead to make suggestion on how to make the sector more profitable especially improvement in the marketing system and in handling of milk.
