  • Product Description

Murrels are commercially important air-breathing finfishes which is commonly available in Indian freshwater systems. They are very tasty, possess high nutritive value and attributing more price in fish market. Murrel culture provides less risk and simple management, it is also suitable for adverse ecological conditions. Murrel seeds are not available in high numbers in natural water bodies, hence artificial breeding is important for murrel seed production. In India, the culture of murrels is in the stage of infancy due to the lack of seed supply and knowledge of gonadal maturation in captive conditions. In view of this, the present study was untertaken to study the effect of different reproductive hormones on the gonadal maturation of striped Murrel, Channa striatus.
