This book is an exploration of the poetry of Darwish and the three developmental phases that underwent his poetry. These phases include: the poetry of resistance, the poetry of loss of and nostalgia for a homeland, and eventually the poetry of ‘timely’ death contemplation. The discussion will show the divergences in Darwish’s early poetry that thoroughly presents the saga of the Palestinian people and his late poetry collections, namely after 1998, that reveals the poet’s solipsism and soliloquy towards his 'timely' death.
