This book is focused on the design of an ultrasonic dental scaler that uses piezoelectric sandwich transducer working with frequency 27 kHz. The maximal required ultrasound intensity at the tip of the applicator is 5W/cm2. It describes the process of the calculus creation, its effect on health and methods of removal. Especially, the ultrasonic method of removal is deeply discussed. Furthermore, the functional and block diagrams are built step by step. On the basis of this knowledge, the design and calculation of the applicator part is carried out. The power and voltage values are calculated from the tip towards the generator output. Last but not least, the design of the circuits of the transducer supply and control part is described. The diagrams are supplemented by the drawings of the printed circuit boards and part lists to provide reader with full documentation of the device.
