  • Product Description

Nothing is of more serious concern than the plight of women who are victims of violence throughout the world. This book is based on a research project that was done in Xipurapureni informal settlement in Limpopo, South Africa. Violence against women by their husbands is one of the far reaching problems. However the problem is not an insurmountable one. It is caused by various factors and manifests itself in multi-dimensional ways. The aim of the book is to assist women, especially those who are in an abusive relationship to understand their rights and to develop mechanism that they can use to combat violence. The book starts by showing different perspectives on the causes of violence by men against their wives. Different perspectives on how violence can be combated were given. It has provided two mechanism that can be used to combat violence i.e. A social framework for ending male violence against women and A subversive counselling model. The book concludes by giving some recommendations.
