The growth of homeless populations throughout the world is of increasing concern. Today the homeless are more like you and I than ever before. The apparent change in character and propensity of homelessness has been attributed to a variety of factors including the restructuring of capital, family dysfunction and deinstitutionalisation. These variables are important in understanding the causes of homelessness. This book goes beyond an examination of homelessness as a lack of physical shelter. The housing conditions, territory, and lives of street kids are studied as well as their sense of belonging to a culture rather than being without housing.
