Octyl methoxycinnamate: 2 Ethylhexyl 3-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-2 Propenoate (C18H26O3) is a UV-B blocking agent with very good protection potential. It is an organic compoundformed from methoxycinnamic acid and 2-ethylhexanol that absorbs UV-B radiation (wavelengths between 280-320 mm) that affects the epidermal layer of the skin and cause sun burn (erythema),damageto the DNA andalso suppresses the immune response of the skin.Octyl methoxycinnamate provides long-lasting protection from UV radiation and also protects skin from the occurrence of melanoma and skin cancer.
